Cynthia McHale

My name is Cynthia McHale. I married my high school friend, Paul McHale. We have been married for 28 years and counting. Together Paul and I have three children; one of which has special needs and another one that was adopted internationally. After our first born was diagnosed with Down syndrome, we both made a conscientious decision for me to be a stay- at- home mom.

Throughout the years, I have balanced raising children with designing custom homes and remodels as well as advocating for children with special needs in the local schools.  I currently am a provider for the Developmental Disabilities Division of Arizona as a habilitation and personal attendant.

In the past, I taught for several years as an elementary education teacher for both the public and private sectors in Minnesota and Arizona. I also was a teacher’s assistant for the Kyrene School district for the special education program after our first born began her school career in the district.

Along the way, I have volunteered for various committees and organizations:

  • Worked with at-risk foster children in a home setting to assist with        rehabilitation into various communities in MN
  • Court supervisions for Stearns County, MN
  • Advocate for inclusive practices in the AZ and MN schools
  • Created and taught a workshop for the National Teacher Association
  • Created and taught Special Needs workshops for Hand-In-Hand Adoption Agency, AZ
  • Independently fundraised for Hope and the Future foster care summer camp
  • Sponsored/sat on a committee for DDD Holiday Gifts from the Heart
  • Rescued/rehabilitated together as a family various farm animals during the pandemic
